Work on Male-Hulhule bridge shall commence this year: Vice President

Speaking at a ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) campaign event in Laamu Atoll Funadhoo, Vice President Jameel said that PPM and the government have proven that they fulfil their vows. He said that they have begun work on fulfilling their vows made to bring development to citizens living across the Maldives. Listing some of them, the vice president said that teaching Qur'an and Arabic in schools has been initiated. Apart from that, he continued to say that PPM had fulfilled other important vows. "With God's Will, the 5,000 we promised senior citizens shall be given from the beginning of March; the 10, 000 we promised fishermen shall also be given without much delay," he said. Vice President Jameel said that the schools, hospitals and airports in the Maldives had been built under former President Maumoon Abdul Qayoom. He said that the public wishes these services to be further expanded and that no other party but PPM can make this a reality. "I would like to say that PPM is the party; which is sincere enough, is capable of and will accomplish the development, advancement and progress that the public wants, -to the citizens living in atolls," Jameel said. Vice President Jameel urged supporters to vote for the candidates of the ruling coalition. Those who are competing for Laamu atoll constituencies are all truly sincere to the public and the party, he added.
