Bank of Maldives (BML) established a park near the historically significant area of Koagannu Cemetery in Hulhumeedhoo, Addu Atoll under its 'Aharenge Bank' Community Fund.
The park was developed in Raafalhaa Beach, which is located in the vicinity of Koagannu, as a recreational area for visitors and residents of the island.
BML's Manager of Public Relations Mohamed Saeed highlighted that the park was developed on the initiative of several Hulhumeedhoo women who also participated in efforts to establish it.
"We are pleased to aid the development of this recreational area for residents of the island and visitors", he stated.

We wanted to create a pleasant environment for visitors. We received BML assistance while our efforts to develop the area were facing delays due to the need to raise our own funds".
Raafalhaa Beach is commonly used as a venue for women as well s middle-aged and senior citizens to hold social gatherings. Awareness programs on health and lifestyle as well as celebrations are also frequently hosted on Raafalhaa Beach.
'Aharenge Bank' Community Fund is a nationwide campaign to empower individuals to contribute to society by conducting sustainable community projects.
During each quarter of the fiscal year, BML selects and allocates MVR 50,000 to five projects in the areas of education, environment, sports and community development under the Aharenge Bank Community Fund. In 2019, BML contributed MVR 1 million to support projects in 20 islands across Maldives.
