Amnesty International probes detaining of Nazim

The detaining of former Defence Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim is being investigated by Amnesty International.
The global movement who advocates the human rights، Amnesty International is looking in to the matter of keeping Nazim in Dhoonidhoo and remanding him a detention period.
Former Minister Nazim is currently in Dhoonidhoo under Police custody after he was remanded in 15 days detention by Criminal Court on February 10.
Nazim was arrested Monday late night on the accusations of possessing dangerous weaponry and allegedly attempting to commit treason of plotting against the Government.
However، the legal team of Minister Nazim had denied all the allegations and stated the dangerous weaponry found at his residence is not associated with him or a member of his family.
The legal team also appealed High Court regarding the Criminal Court’s order to detain Nazim and remand him in detention period. The hearing of appeal case is tabled Monday.
