Minister of Home Affairs، Umar Naseer has refuted the statement released by the officer of Former President Nasheed، claiming that the family has no access to visit Mohamed Nasheed in prison.
The statement stated that the legal team of Nasheed requested to visit him last Sunday، however، the government had notified the legal team over the phone that they cannot meet with Nasheed.
Minister Umar Naseer refuted the claims and stated Nasheed’s immediate family will continue to get the weekly access to visit him in the prison. He also said ‘the statement was irresponsible’.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed has been sentenced to 13 years in prison on terrorism charges for ‘kidnapping’ criminal court chief justice Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012، during his presidential term.
