Indian Tourism Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma has met with his Maldivian counterpart, Minister Ahmed Adeeb and discussed on ways to developing the tourism sectors of the two countries.
The meeting was held on Thursday.
Dr. Sharma noted that the main issue facing the average Indian tourist were the high prices of Maldivian resorts and added that India was seeking ways to rectify the issue. As such, Indian civil servants receive subsidized holidays for Maldives.
It is expected that if the prices of holidays in the Maldives decreases, then the number of Indian tourists will increase substantially.
