Broadcom Employees Walk Out Following Suspension of Top Administrator

Several employees at the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) walked off the job and returned home today in protest after the Commission’s top administrative officer was suspended.
The suspension, reportedly linked to a petition submitted by 18 employees, was not officially communicated to staff. Workers said they only became aware of the suspension through a media report quoting a Commission member. They also expressed concern that no formal procedures had been followed and that there is now uncertainty over who holds the highest administrative post at Broadcom.
According to the petition, submitted Sunday to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the People’s Majlis, the primary concern is that Broadcom continues to bypass proper procedures and operate outside its administrative framework. Staff members believe the sudden suspension was an attempt to intimidate employees for raising internal issues.
As of now, Broadcom has made no official comment on the matter.
