First Lady Sajidhaa Mohamed graced the official ceremony of World Patient Safety Day 2025. Upon her arrival, she was welcomed by the Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.
During the ceremony, the First Lady inaugurated the licensing software for the Health Establishment Management System (HEMS), introduced to facilitate the inspection of registered health service providers and professionals. She also launched the JCI Patient Safety Champions Training Programme, part of a wider initiative to ensure that patients receive the care, compassion and protection they deserve.
A panel discussion was also held on the theme “Safe care for every newborn and every child”, under the slogan “Patient safety from the start!”, during the ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Health Minister Abdulla Nazim and senior officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Maldives.
World Patient Safety Day has been observed annually on 17 September since 2019.
