Police today rescued a man whose boat sank after taking on water while traveling from Sh. Funadhoo to Feevah in the same atoll.
Police stated that they received information around 11:50 AM today that a boat traveling from Sh. Funadhoo to Feevah was taking on water and sinking.
Upon receiving this information, police said that a police launch was dispatched to the area, and a search operation for the boat commenced.
“While searching the area, the person traveling on the boat was found in the sea near Feevah. This person is a 68-year-old man,” police stated.
Police rescued the man and transported him to Feevah on the police launch. Police also confirmed that the man is in good health.
“Initial investigations indicate that the man was traveling alone. Furthermore, as some debris from the boat is drifting, we advise those traveling through that area to exercise special caution,” police added.
