Home Minister Umar Naseer has stated that as Dhivehi is unique and is the local language extensive work must be carried out to promote and develop the language.
He made the statement to Miadhu News elaborating on the key note address he gave in the National Oratory Competition.
Minister Umar stated that the Government has introduced many measures to develop the language and will do more work in the future. He also stated that it was extremely vital that continued efforts in developing the language.
He added that innovative measures and tech knowhow were required to develop the language. He noted that it was vital that the youth work in alliance with the Government on the issue and added that the Government will provide assistance on the issue.
Umar Naseer stated that Dhivehi was the unifying language of the nation and as such all Maldivians have to be united in the effort. Minister Umar appealed to all Maldivians to work together to achieve the goal. Many scholars have noted that Dhivehi was a unique language and is in need of development.
