President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has stated that youth will be the driving force for economic growth.
He made the statement held in the ceremony to mark Fishermen’s and Farmer’s Day, held in Dharubaaruge.
President Yameen said that fisheries and agriculture were vital for the economy and as such, youth have to be actively involved in the two sectors. He also said that technology can only impact the sector to an extent. If, he added, youth were not involved such vital sectors, the future of the sectors remained bleak. President Yameen added that the Government will always encourage sustainable development for resources.
President Yameen said that youth of the nation should accept that the Government had instate many programs to improve the two sectors. He also said that the Government will always seek to facilitate secure development for all sectors.
He also reflected on the Government insurance schemes for fishermen, assuring that the Government will continue to spend on the development of the sector tirelessly.
