Appeal hearings of a case filed by the Ministry of Tourism contesting the Civil Court ruling over the termination of lease agreements of 3 lagoons has ended today.
Villa Group filed a case at the Civil Court after government terminated 5 lease agreements which involves islands and lagoons. All the 5 cases were won by Villa Group and the appeal was filed by the Government.
Based on the ruling of the Civil Court, it is likely that Villa Group will win these cases from the High Court as well. Civil Court ruled that the agreements were terminated for no reason and Villa Group did not engage in any unlawful activities.
Yesterday the court ordered the government to give back a lagoon that was given to Sea House Resorts by the government before, but later terminated by the government after the MMPRC corruption.
