The case of a youth، who died in treatment، after involving in a dangerous road accident in Hulhumalé last Sunday، has been filed in Police Integrity Commission (PIC).
Reportedly، a local person filed the case in PIC yesterday.
The case filed at PIC says the accident occurred as the two individuals on the motorbike ‘panicked’ as the Police were chasing them، adding that the police should take full responsibility of the accident.
Police had previously said the accident which occurred near Number 133 flat، after the two individuals on a motorbike attempted to flee from traffic police officers.
They further said، they were found throwing something، which later was identified as six packets containing narcotic substances.
The accident occurred at 21:00 on Sunday evening، claiming a life of a 22 year old، and seriously injuring another 26 year old.
Similar case happened in 2012 when a police officer threw the baton at a fleeing motorbike، which resulted in the speeding bike to hit a pedestrian، 43 year old local male، who passed away due to the incident. PIC، however، ruled that Police were not responsible for the death of the pedestrian.
