Mohamed Shifaz، Vice President of MDP has said that the party won’t give any chance to the government to harass former President Nasheed’s family.
Police had entered and inspected the private residence of ex Presidenf Nasheed’s wife and children، M.Yagoothuge on Wednesday night. The police confiscated the CCTV hard drive from the residence. After the police gained access to the residence around 9.40 pm Wednesday night، they attained three additional warrants، a total of four warrants and continued their inspection. The police left the residence around 3.40 am Thursday morning.
Speaking at MDP’s public meeting last night، former parliament member of Baarah constituency، Mohamed Shifaz questioned the government as to what the government wants to obtain from harassing ex President Nasheed’s wife and his daughters.
Shifaz said that the government will get no chance to harass the family of the biggest political leader in Maldives.
He also said that MDP won’t let the government establish a dictatorship in the country.
He further questioned as to why ex President Nasheed’s was taken back to prison.
Ex President Nasheed was taken back to jail after spending two months at a “stress-free” environment as per his doctor’s advice. He was imprisoned again after the two months home detention period he was subjected to was over.
Referring to ex President Nasheed، Shifaz said that democracy is in jail and that democracy should be freed from prison.
Shifaz said that democracy is in jail and that they won’t back down unless and until democracy is freed.
