The transfer of ex-President Mohamed Nasheed to Maafushi Prison، and keeping him confined at the detention centre is unlawful، says the legal team of Nasheed.
Speaking at the press conference held last night، Lawyer Hassan Latheef said the transfer of Nasheed to the Maafushi Prison is unlawful، as he was notified on July 19 that he has been changed completely to home detention for the remainder of his sentence.
Latheef said the authority did not present any legal documents before taking Nasheed back to the Prison، nor presented any identification.
Legal team’s member، Hisan Hussain said a new case will be filed for violating the legal document which states Nasheed has been completely changed to home detention.
Hisan further said it is concerning that Nasheed has been taken to prison.
