Attorney General Mohamed Anil has stated that the new Penal Code will rectify the youths.
Speaking at the inaugural of the Conference based on the new Penal Code held at Bados Island Resort، Anil stated that the new Penal Code will open doors for the Youths and will act as a mediator to get youth’s on the right track.
He stated that during the planning process of the new Penal Code، the aim was to get people back to the Society as useful individuals rather than making them culprits.
He has affirmed that the government is already prepared to adopt the new Penal Code. However، he stated that another three months will be useful to the government to be prepared fully to the new Penal Code.
Anil said that the current Penal Code should be left behind without a second thought since the current Penal Code has many flaws.
He indicated that the current Penal Code was formed during 1960s and stated that the Penal Code is not fit for the present society.
Meanwhile، Parliament on Thursday has voted to act on the new Penal Code after three months. Initially، the new Penal Code was to adopt on 13th April.
