Criminal Court has decided to pronounce a sentence regarding the 5 million dollar embezzlement case tomorrow.
The state is charging former VP Adeeb، former MD of Maldives Marketing and PR Cooperation Abdullah Ziyath، and a relative of Adeeb، Haamid Ismail of embezzling over 5 million dollars of state funds. The court will start the hearing which will pronounce a sentence on three of them at 11:00 am tomorrow.
The last hearing of this case was held on last Saturday behind closed doors. The state is charging them for misappropriation of 5 million dollars which was owed to the government as acquisition cost during the leasing of Lh. Maabinhuraa. Amjad Ismail، the brother of Haamid Ismail testified in court saying that Adeeb called him and asked to deposit 5 million dollars into an account of Millennium Capital Management Private Limited.
Amjadh said that he kept 1 million dollars in the company account and then made a cheque of 4 million dollars to a company owned by Adeeb. Amjad said that he gave the cheque to a shareholder of the company owned by Adeeb،
