Former President Mohamed Nasheed’s medical leave extended

Maldives Correctional Service has extended Former President Mohamed Nasheed’s medical leave by 30 days with effect from Sunday، says Commissioner of Prisons Mohamed Husham.
Husham said that although the leave granted to Nasheed expired، they [Nasheed] have not made a decision on the matter of medical purpose.
Superintendent of Prisons Ibrahim Mohamed Didi said that the Former President’s legal team had last Thursday requested for an extension on his behalf along with the proper documents.
The team had made earlier requests for extensions but failed to submit necessary documents with the request.
Nasheed requested for a medical leave for a spine surgery.
Maldives Correctional Service had initially granted the Former President medical leave on 18th January 2016. Nasheed left to UK on 20th January 2016.
