Silk Route project will receive full cooperation of Maldivian government : Youth Minister

Maldivian government have said that they will fully cooperate with the Silk Route project of China.
Speaking at a seminar organized by Chinese Embassy and Maldives China Trade and Cultural Organization, youth Minister Iruthishaam Adam said that the project will open up new trade opportunities for Maldives.
She said that this project will connect Asia, Africa, Oceania and Maldives via land and sea and this will open up a huge market in all these regions. She further said that China does not meddle with internal affairs of other countries and in the past 3 years the relation between Maldives and China has strengthened. She said that Maldives will work with China on international issues.
During the seminar officials from MCTCO and Chinese Embassy will give information about the silk route and Chinese projects in Maldives such as the airport and bridge development project.
EXIM bank of China has given a loan of 373 million dollars for the development of Ibrahim Nasir International Airport. Maldives first expressed interest in participating in the Silk Route in an official visit made by President Yameen to China. In addition, during the Chinese President’s visit to Maldives, both the leaders discussed about the project. Maldives signed the silk route agreement on 16th December 2014.
