Newly appointed Assistant AG Hisham Wajeeh: he served previously as a public prosecutor
The Maldives on Wednesday appointed Ahmed Hisham Wajeeh as the new Assistant Attorney General.
Previously Hisham served as a Public Prosecutor in the Prosecutor General’s Office. He is the son-in-law of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)’s deputy leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla.
Hisham was well known as the prosecutor of several high profile cases, such as Former President Mohamed Nasheed’s terrorism case.
His predecessor was lawyer Ismail Visham, who was dismissed as the Assistant AG early last year. The post had been vacant since.
