Police probe a second assault case as violence rocks Maafannu

The police are investigating an attempt to assault a person in Male’ City on Monday night – in the second such incident that took place in the capital within the span of hours.
The attempted assault came after a 22-year-old man was stabbed while at a café in the Maafannu district at around 03:38 pm on Monday.
A second such attack, which appears to have been foiled, took place a couple of hours later at around 10:29 pm. According to the police, the case involves an attempt to assault a person at the junction of Alamaa Goalhi and Muiveyo Goalhi.
Both incidents took place in the Maafannu district of the city.
The police did not say if there were any injuries in the incident.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old injured in the first incident is being treated at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
Both incidents are under investigation by the police. However, the police have released little detail regarding the incident, and have not confirmed any arrests.
