Seaplane services launched in Velidhoo

National airline, Maldivian has commenced seaplane services in N. Velidhoo.
The service was launched during a special ceremony held on Friday which was attended by Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed, Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen, Velidhoo council members and other senior government officials.
The service launched with the first seaplane enroute from Velidhoo to Male’ with both Maldivians and tourists aboard.
Seaplanes will operate to the island twice a week.

Maldivians has been priced at MVR 999. Meanwhile, a one-way ticket for foreigners is priced at USD 93.
A seaplane platform has been built at Velidhoo for the purpose, in addition to a check-in area and a lounge for passengers.
President Muizzu announced plans to launch seaplane services in Velidhoo during his visit to the island on July 24th, 2025. In this regard, the President efforts were underway to establish a seaplane platform at the island, with target set to operationalize seaplane services in January.
Back then, President also said sea ambulance service would commence in Velidhoo in January, with the vessel to be stationed on the island.
