President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has conferred the National Award for Public Service on 66 recipients, presenting each with a commemorative shield and badge in recognition of their long and dedicated service to the State.
The awards were presented during the official Independence Day ceremony held this morning at the Malé Centre for Social Education to commemorate the 61st Independence Day of the Maldives.
The recipients honoured today have each dedicated more than 41 years of service to the State and had not previously received this national recognition. The awards were conferred following the President's initiative to identify and honour eligible recipients.
Following the President's decision, the President's Office obtained and verified the nominees' service records before submitting them to the National Awards Committee. The committee subsequently reviewed the nominations and confirmed that the recipients met the eligibility criteria for the award.
