The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) collected MVR 2.63 billion in revenue during June, marking a 27 percent increase compared to the same month last year.
According to MIRA’s latest statistics, this is the highest revenue recorded for any June in the past five years, surpassing last year’s figure of MVR 2 billion. The collection was also 10.4 percent higher than projected for the month.
The surge in revenue was attributed to increased collections from tourism sector GST, Green Tax, and land sale and transfer fees. GST accounted for the largest share at MVR 960.9 million, followed by income tax at MVR 634 million, resort lease tax at MVR 403.1 million, and Green Tax at MVR 163.3 million.
Airport-related fees also contributed significantly, with the Airport Development Fee bringing in MVR 133.2 million and Departure Tax generating MVR 133.1 million. The total revenue included USD 116.7 million.
