MMA denies retracting any case filed to the police

The financial intelligence unit of Maldives Monetary Authority has denied retracting any of the cases filed to the police and other relevant authorities. FIU revealed today that so far they have filed 137 cases to various state institutions and that they have not retracted a single case.
FIU held a press conference today and issued a press statement. Meanwhile, President Yameen’s spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali tweeted today saying that the governor of MMA has told him that the letter filed by FIU against President Yameen has been retracted.
FIU is an independent unit operating under MMA to investigate money laundering and terrorism financing.
Meanwhile, it has been reported yesterday that FIU sent a letter to police to investigate President Yamee after 22 million Rufiyaa was deposited into his account few days before the election.
