Maldives National University (MNU)’s Mahasama Learning Festival has received strong interest from children and families, the university said.
The free festival, held to coincide with the school holidays, aims to develop technical skills, creativity, and practical learning outside the traditional academic environment.
The five-day festival began on June 19 and will continue until June 23. Although a large volume of children expressed interest to participate in the event, approximately 300 children were given the opportunity to participate in the event as the event is being held in Male’ only on this occasion.
The festival includes sessions led by experts from different fields at MNU. The programme covers sessions in eight areas:
- Storytelling in Action
- The World of Stories
- Islamic Ethics and Manners
- Mathematics
- Mental Health
- Reading Skills and Time Management
- Robotics and New Innovations
- Scientific Discoveries
MNU’s Vice Chancellor Dr Aishath Shehenaz said the festival aims to make learning fun, accessible and practical, while encouraging curiosity and confidence among children.
The programme targets children aged 9–12, 13–15, and 16–18, helping them develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking, scientific thinking, self-confidence and a love for learning.
