President’s Office Invites Applicants to Rights Commission as Muna’s Five-Year Tenure Winds Down

The President’s Office has announced the opening of applications for a seat on the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM), as the tenure of its current president, Mariyam Muna, draws to a close.
Muna was appointed to the Commission on 30 November 2020. Her five-year term is scheduled to conclude on 30 November 2025, prompting the government to initiate the formal recruitment process in accordance with statutory requirements governing independent institutions.
Candidates interested in the position may submit their applications to the President’s Office on working days between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The deadline for submission is 12:00 p.m. on Monday, 22 September 2025. Application forms are available for download from the official website of the President’s Office.
Once the application window closes, the President will nominate a candidate from the pool of applicants. The nomination will then be forwarded to the Parliament for review. Final appointment to the commission is contingent upon legislative approval.
The HRCM is composed of five members. Alongside Muna, the current commissioners include Samaau Ahmed Najeeb, Ismail Habeeb, Mohamed Shafeeq Mahmood, and Ahmed Magsoom.
