Family Festivals, Drone Show, Fireworks Cap Off Grand Eid Celebration

Hundreds of families throughout the capital Male’ joined in the festivities to celebrate Eid al-Fitr capped off by a spectacular drone show and a fireworks display lit up the night sky.
The celebrations began late afternoon on Sunday with the “Eid Haveeru 1446” organised by The Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), Maldives Police Service (MPS) and several state owned firms.
The event was spread out over three different locations across Male’ including the Sultan Park, in front of the Victory Monument and in Republic Square with games and many cultural and traditional performances.
Activities for all ages included demonstrations of Maldives’ culture and traditions along with a fusion of modern characters with traditional ones. During the event, smiling children were seen onboard MNDF vehicles with parents capturing the moments on camera for the family album.
The special weapons display, brass band performances and a silent drill by MNDF was also witnessed by hundreds of families gathered around the Republic Square.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, accompanied by his family also joined in the festivities.
Upon arrival, he was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the public gathering, after which the First Family explored stalls set up by various companies.
The President then joined children at the Izzuddin Jetty to cut the cake specially prepared for the occasion.
At sunset, the main center of celebration turned to the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale’.
Organised by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) at the Hulhumale Central Park, an impressive drone show with the blinking and colourful drones lining up in unison, perfectly showcasing Maldivian culture and its natural beauty.
The grand celebrations were capped off by a grand fireworks display, lighting up the night sky to the delight of the hundreds of families gathered across Hulhumale’.
