State Trading Organization (STO) has opened a wholesale centre in Hulhumale' as well.
STO said that items specially brought in for Ramadan will be wholesaled from Hulhumale' and distributed at the STO Hotel area as well.
These include onions, potatoes, and eggs.
STO stated that wholesalers were given the opportunity to buy goods in Hulhumale' to make it more convenient for businesses. The goods will be available at the STO Hotel area, the Industrial Village, and the wholesale center in Male'.
For this Ramadan, STO is offering the following pricing:
- A 20 kg sack of onions is priced at MVR 335. If more than five sacks are purchased, the price will be reduced to MVR 325 per sack.
- A case of eggs is priced at MVR 350. If more than five cases are purchased, the price will be reduced to MVR 340 per case.
- A sack of potatoes is sold at MVR 515, with a reduced price of MVR 505 per sack if more than five sacks are purchased.
For this Ramadan, STO has imported 24 essential items, including onions, potatoes, and eggs, at controlled prices, similar to previous years.
These products will be available for purchase at the STO Wholesale Center, the STO Warehouse in the Industrial Village Zone, and STO People's Choice for retail customers.
The 24 items that STO has imported for Ramadan are as follows:
1. Basic food: onions, eggs, potatoes, coconuts, dates
2. Vegetables and fruits: garlic, ginger, lime, carrot, orange, cabbage, chili, guava, watermelon, mango, passionfruit, cucumber
3. Processed food: Nestlé cream, cocoa powder, baked beans, condensed milk
4. Cooking ingredients: sunflower oil, vegetable oil, Basmati rice
