President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed solidarity with the Government of China over the outbreak of Novel coronavirus that has claimed over 400 lives in China.
In a letter addressed to the President of China Xi Jinping, President Solih expressed condolences and sympathy to the government and people of China, especially to the families of victims who have passed in the coronavirus epidemic. The president stated Maldives stands firmly with China in their resolute efforts to contain and overcome the threats posed by the outbreak nationally and internationally.
President Solih further stated Maldives appreciates China’s openness, transparency and sense of responsibility in dealing with the outbreak, adding he has confidence the Chinese government and its people will be able to overcome the challenge soon. The president concluded his letter by thanking the Chinese government for its timely assistance to Maldivians currently living in China.
