Youth are the energy of Maldivian Economy – President Yameen

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom said that the youth of Maldives should be empowered and everyone should give them the opportunities to believe they are the driving energy of our economy.
In a ceremony at Dharubaaruge on Monday night to celebrate four years for Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA)، President Yameen said that people are not guilty of big crimes، but includes all shorts of crimes and mistakes.
Hence MIRA and all other authorities should focus on creating an environment which will encourage people not to commit crimes.

“The main way to minimize crimes is to widen the economy. The youth at the age when they are more prone  to commit crimes should be in jobs where they get enough salary. They should be given opportunities from the government to fill their free times more productively.” said President Yameen.
President Yameen said that if a practical atmosphere can be established for Local and Foreign investors and businessmen، taxation authorities will generate more income in Maldives.
People should not be concerned about the starting of economical zones with special privileges and it does not undermine the Constituency، said President Yameen.

President said that if the projects planned by the Government becomes fulfilled the economy will escalate to a new horizon. That way، taxes and tax payers will increase as well.
Meanwhile a Special Economiz Zones bill has been proposed to the Parliament، the opposition MDP are criticizing it.
