Minister of Defense and National Security، Major General Rtd. Moosa Ali Jaleel has underscored the importance of the officials at the education sector to have the knowledge of First Aid، and stated that ‘principals، teachers and staffs should be trained as first-aiders’.
Inaugurating the Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction Management held at SHE Building today، Minister Jaleel noted that an incident may occur at unexpected times، and stated that being fully prepared for such unforeseen occurrence is of utmost importance.
He further noted the training given at program commenced today will be ‘fruitful today and tomorrow’.
Jaleel expressed concerns that a single or few first aid specialists will be insufficient and stated that ‘all should become first aiders’.
In addition، Minister Jaleel highlighted that an action plan is ‘a must to have’ and stated it is important that such a plan should be enforced. He also stated that it is ‘not necessary that plans to be executed in Maldives to have attributes from such plans executed in other countries’.
The program initiated by Ministry of Education is participated by Maldives National Defense Force، Maldives Police Service، National Disaster Management Center and Maldives Red Crescent.
