Hearing of Nazim and Jaleel cancelled

The hearing of former Defence Minister Colonel Rtd. Mohamed Nazim on possession of military weaponry and the hearing of incumbent Defence Minister Major General Rtd. Moosa Ali Jaleel، both tabled for tomorrow by the Criminal Court have been cancelled for administrative reasons.
Criminal Court had previously tabled Ex-Minister Nazim’s hearing at 14:00 on Monday and Ex-Chief of Army Jaleel’s hearing at 20:00 on Monday evening.
However، Criminal Court media official Ahmed Mohamed Manik tweeted saying the said hearings were both cancelled for administrative reasons.
The State pressed terrorism charges on the former Chief of Defence Force، current Minister of Defence Major General Rtd. Moosa Ali Jaleel for the alleged association with the kidnapping of the Criminal Court Chief Judge Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012.
The State-presented witnesses had testified in favour of Jaleel stating they were ‘unaware if Jaleel is involved in the kidnapping’.
Ex-Minister of Defence Colonel Rtd. Mohamed Nazim was pressed with charges of possessing military weapons at his private residence of G. Enif. Maldives Police Service (MPS) officers raided his home on 18 January 2015 and confiscated a handgun، three bullets، a magazine، an Improvised Explosive Device and a pen drive.
The pen drive contained contents depicting – as presented during the hearings – that Nazim was ‘attempting a coup on the incumbent Government، funded by STO and Villa groups’.
