Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on red alert over FlyMe aircraft bomb threat

Ibrahim Nasir International Airport has been put on high alert after an outbound aircraft emergency-landed following threats of a bomb onboard. 
The flight، which departed Ibrahim Nasir International Airport at 2304hrs on Saturday destined to Baa Dharavandhoo Airport. However، somewhere along the way، the flight commander realized a bomb threat aboard the aircraft، and returned to Ibrahim Nasir International Airport on emergency at 2349hrs. All 11 passengers and 3 crew deboarded the aircraft safely under MNDF’s supervision، according to a press release by MNDF.
The aircraft is now being searched as per aviation regulations، MNDF said.
Moreover، MNDF said that due to the ongoing investigation، no further details were available at the time.
Vaguthu understands that out of the 11 passengers، 10 were foreigners، with 1 local.
Although not officially confirmed، rumors place a piece of paper in the aircraft with threats of hijacking the aircraft، and the existence of a bomb onboard.
FlyMe has been in a similar predicament in the past، when a flight was delayed exactly 1 year ago، following hijacking threats.
An emergency police unit has been working on the case، according to police، though no further details were provided.
Following the emergency، the airport has since resumed flights.
