Doctor in caesarean case suspended, investigations begin

The doctor, who operated on the patient who was brought to IGMH from HDh. Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital following a cesarean section, has been suspended.
Aishath Fariyal had passed away after complications following a caesarean section delivery.
Health Ministry reported that the doctor was Dr. Luis, a Saudi doctor, and that he will be brought to Male’ for investigations from the earliest flight possible.
Health Ministry’s State Minister Dr. Abdullah Waheed said that Fariyal’s case is being reviewed by a specialist section at Health Ministry. He added that the section will seek the expert opinion of specialists at IGMH and expert doctors in the field for the purpose of investigation.
Dr. Luis has been suspended temporarily and a decision will be made on the doctor only after a thorough investigation.
HDh. Atoll Education Center has said that she had been serving as a teacher in the center for the past seven years. It has also been reported that she had previously served as a teacher in another school.
Prior to her death, IGMH had carried out multiple blood transfusions Thursday night. She passed away while under treatment from ICU around 1.30 am.
