High Court has scheduled the appeal case hearing regarding the 15-day detention of JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim for next Sunday at 10:45 am.
Lawyer Hisaan Hussein said that even this time the court order was issued with a request made by the police and not the PG. She said that hence even this time Qasim was arrested against the procedures of the parliamentary privilege act.
Lawyer Shameem said that they requested to hold the appeal hearing earlier since Qasim is in detention, but they refused to do so.
Shameem said previously in cases regarding detention, the court has conducted hearings outside of the working hours. He said that they requested even to hold the hearings over the weekend.
