Maldives Expo to feature religious category for the first time

The upcoming Maldives Expo 2026 will feature a dedicated category for religious content for the first time in the history of the national exposition, officials announced. The inclusion of the new category, scheduled for October, is intended to provide a formal platform for creators and educators to advance Islamic teachings and enhance religious awareness.
The exhibition is organised by the Business Centre Corporation (BCC) under the strategic guidance of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. The formal application process commenced following the publication of the exhibition’s guidelines in the government gazette.
The BCC said the primary objective of the newly established category is to foster innovative approaches to religious expression while promoting Islamic principles through creative and educational mediums. Under this classification, various products and services specifically designed to promote Islam will be eligible for exhibition.
A central feature of the initiative is the opportunity for participants to submit religious content in both audio and video formats, including documentaries and multimedia presentations. The BCC noted, however, that such products must comprehensively comply with established religious principles and standards.
The scope of the exhibition extends to a specialised sub-category focused on religious educational materials for children, tailored to the cognitive development of various age groups. In addition to anticipated economic progress, the BCC noted that the initiative will pave the way to revive and cultivate the cultural and religious aspects of the community. Public registration is currently active through the official portal at www.expo.mv.
