India and Maldives have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in a range of sectors during a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldivian Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef on Saturday.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on his official X account stating that the discussions had centered on the important pillars of the longstanding friendship between India and the Maldives. He also highlighted areas of mutual interest and shared benefit.
“A very productive meeting was held with Vice President Al-Ustaz Hussain Mohamed Latheef. Our discussion highlighted the key pillars of the friendship between India and the Maldives. Both countries are working closely in areas such as infrastructure, technology, climate change, energy and more. This greatly benefits the people of both countries. I am hopeful that this relationship will continue to grow stronger in the years ahead,” Prime Minister Modi wrote in Dhivehi.
Prime Minister arrived in the Maldives on Friday for a two-day State Visit at the invitation of Maldives President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. He is scheduled to depart from the Maldives on Saturday evening.
