Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that land in capital city Male’ have been subdivided to the point that it has become indivisibly small.
Nasheed said this at the ceremony to open his campaign site on Friday evening.
The leader of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) said that it has now critical to provide housing in all parts of the country and, highlighting the congestion problem in Male’, said that the 19th parliament will be crucial to solving the problem.
He also noted the lack of progress in the quality of Maldivian life and said that the work done to improve the situation during the first MDP administration should be now be continued through the parliament.
He added that it was important for MDP, the ruling party, to gain the majority in the next parliament, for which he is also contesting.
