Commissioner of Police, Hussein Waheed has said that Maldives Police Service will hold more awareness programs next year to make the society free from crime.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, the Commissioner said that the Police awareness programs will be focusing on making the people more aware about policing and also to make them more aware about crimes.
In addition to this, the Commissioner said that the police also holds “Blues for Youth” camps to nurture the youth free from crime, He said that 7 such camps have been held throughout the Maldives and 372 students have participated in these events.
Commissioner of Police Hussein Waheed said that no participant of this program have been ever arrested for a crime and this shows that the program has been very successful.
He said that the participants of this program have been cooperating with the police.
Commissioner of Police noted that the purpose of the camp is to get youths and adolescents to aspire to become self-confident and valuable individuals of the community and called upon the participants to serve the nation. He went on to say that discouraging youths from crime is of great importance to the nation.
