A minor has been actively selling narcotic substances in Addu City Feydhoo.
According to sources، a 13 year old boy acts as the leader to a gang that does illegal narcotics business throughout Addu City islands. A source confirms the minor frequents Maradhoo-Feydhoo for various narcotics transactions as well.
“He is titled and acting out as the leader of the gang، but so far it is not sure if the child uses drugs or not” the source said adding that، a minor is cast as the leader for the masterminds behind the drug trade to evade authorities.
“He is being told that he is the leader of the group، this amuses him and he is about the leader title he has received، he’d often say that work pays him well and does not wish to stop” the source who spoke to “Vaguthu” added.
An individual who spoke on behalf of the minor’s family stated the boy has ceased going to school and he refrains from living with any of his family or relatives. He also added that the minor has been receiving sexual assault and abuse from other members of the gang.
Furthermore، the relative stated that the case has been reported to Police as well as Family and Child Protection Services on various occasions. The minor’s mother passed away due to cancer and the child’s father is believed to be not attentive to the minor.
