If at all possible, second round will be held on Sunday: EC

President of Elections Commission (EC) Fuad Thaufeeg has said that if at all possible, the second round of the presidential election will be held on Sunday, 10 November.
Fuad said this after a meeting between President Waheed, members of the Elations Commission and agents of the presidential candidates this afternoon.
Earlier today, during different meeting with President Waheed, the three presidential candidates agreed with the idea of holding the second round on 10 or 11 November.
Fuad told Sun Online tonight that discussions are ongoing between the members and the permanent staff of the Elections Commission, regarding holding the second round earlier.
He said that a decision will be made and shared with the media tonight.
When asked about the difficulties that the commission might face if the date for the second round is brought forward, Fuad said that it would ‘impose some challenges, but efforts are ongoing to, if at all possible, hold the election on 10 November’.
At the meeting held this afternoon with President Waheed, members of the Elections Commission shared the difficulties it would face if the election is brought forward, such as having to remove the names of persons turning 18 from the voters’ list, and having to open for re-registration again.
