China-Maldives: Second meeting of JCTEC concludes

The second meeting of Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) between China and Maldives has concluded.
This meeting was held today in Kurumba Maldives. Economic Minister، Mohamed Saeed and Fisheries Minister، Dr. Mohamed Shinee took part in this meeting on behalf of Maldives. Deputy Chinese Minister of Commerce، Gao Yan also participated in the meeting.
During this meeting، the China-Maldives friendship projects carried out with the help of the Chinese government، how to increase business and economy between the two countries and ways to provide help in investment and business were also discussed.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today to begin Maldives free trade agreement negotiations، after the joint feasibility study carried out by both countries، under the decision made during the first meeting of JCETC held on 16th December 2014، was presented and accepted by both the governments
The first meeting of this committee was held on 16th December 2014 in Beijing.
In that meeting، it was decided to carry out a joint feasibility study by both the countries. The feasibility study has concluded now.
