National Sports Complex to be developed in Youth City

An agreement has been signed to develop National Sports Complex in the youth city developed by the government in Hulhumale’. The complex will be developed on an area of 5 acres.
As per the agreement, 6 badminton courts, a basketball court, handball court, 2 volleyball courts, 2 futsal pitches, 10 table tennis tables, 10 billiard tables, and a multi purpose facility will be developed. The contractor of the project is AGT Consultancy.
In addition, in this sports complex, there will be accommodation facilities for coaches and trainers of clubs and gym facilities as well. Furthermore, hotels will be developed to raise finances to maintain the complex.
In the agreement signing ceremony, Youth Minister Irthisham Adam said that the total cost of the project is 40 million dollars and the amount will be repayed in 10 years. She said that they acquired financing for the project at a 4 percent interest rate.
The project will be developed on a contractor finance basis. The contractor of this project, AGT consultancy is a company based in Uzbekisthan. Minister Irthisham said that the company will be working as directed by the Youth Council of the President’s office. She said that with the development of this complex, one major pledge of President Yameen will be fulfilled.
The MD of HDC, Muhammad Simon said that they hope that the complex will be completed by 2018.
