Former President Mohamed Nasheed has shared additional information regarding the case of Arecanut Palms being cut down.
In a press conference held at Male’ City Council، the opposition leader has revealed that he is also carrying out an investigation on the case، and that he will only do it to support the investigation of Male’ City Council. He has shared some of the information he learned.
Nasheed alleged two Special Operations (SO) officers of Police wearing masks having a hand in cutting down the palm trees. He revealed the name of one officers to media.
“The two arrested police officers were of SO، and their hoods were not removed at the police who arrested them learned they were from Special Operations. And one of the officers are Special Operations SWAT Unit officer Musthofa، Mustho of Lh. Naifaru currently living in Mahchah Golhi Gemandhooge. This is rumored within Police.” Nasheed said.
He said the case has been filed in Police and that except for one officer، everyone else are afraid to speak of the case.
Answering to a question by a media official، Prez. Nasheed said he has already urged Chief Justice to take this case as a Sumoto Case in the Supreme Court. He said if such cases a left without investigating، it is a threat to sustain peace and stability within the country. He said he hope that the Authorities would investigate the case completely and professionally.
