Parliament approves Ahmed Mohamed as new Ambassador to India

Parliament on Monday has approved former Commissioner General of Customs Ahmed Mohamed as the new Maldivian Ambassador-designate to India.
58 members presented in the Parliament voted in favour of Ahmed Mohamed، while one member، voted against the motion. Reportedly،  MP Ali Azim of Medhu Henveyru Constituency voted against the motion.
National Security Committee approved Ahmed Mohamed as the new Maldivian Ambassador-designate to India on Sunday.
Ahmed Mohamed was appointed as Commissioner General of Customs after President Yameen took Office in November last year. He was later appointed as Ambassador-at-Large، at Ministerial-level، in Ministry of Foreign Affairs in September this year. He was also Minister of Economic Developments during President Dr. Mohamed Waheed’s Administration.
Current Ambassador-designate of Maldives to India is Foreign Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs، Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.
