Jumhooree Party Leader and Maamigilee Constituency MP Qasim Ibrahim has stated that investment opportunities have to be opened on an international platform to fulfill public requirements.
Speaking in the Parliament session last night Qasim stated that amending the Constitution or adding chapters to the Constitution was required in the ever changing world.
He also stated that investment into mega economic projects were vital if the nation was to proceed with the development of the nation. Therefore, Qasim added that it was key to implement the measures proposed in the Bill. He voiced his support for the motion, citing that such motions gets passed from the Parliament. He also noted the benefits the motion would bring in the form of employment and better pay and innovations.
The proposed motion states the investor can reclaim 70 percent of the land and can claim the land as theirs, on a free hold basis. As the land area of the country amounts to less than 10 percent, Qasim cited that this offered many opportunities for development.
Qasim added that many developed nations of the world embraced the free hold basis, noting that Singapore, Dubai, US and European nations worked on this concept. He also added that this was valuable experience and shows us the importance of carrying out this project.
Qasim said that with the inclusion of payback in the event of revoking the said land or investment was a further embellishment of the motion. He thanked President Yameen for the initiative in bringing such a motion.
