President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom has stated that if former President Mohamed Nasheed wished to appeal his case, then he has to file the motion in Supreme Court.
He made the statement in the closing ceremony of the second forum held to train campaign managers for “President Yameen 2018”.
President Yameen said that Nasheed had previously sent many letters requesting for an appeal and that he had tried to facilitate the appeal. He added that he will act within the legal limits to grant any such request and said that he will never impose himself on the decisions made by the judiciary.
President Yameen stated that Former President Nasheed has to follow the Supreme Court route instead of creating a media circus, with international celebrities injected into the matter. He added that he will not allow anyone to circumvent the due legal processes and that the Government was not afraid of any attempts to intimidate.
