Health Minister Iruthisham Adam stated that the reported cases of non-contagious diseases have risen exponentially in the Maldives.
She made the statement speaking in the opening ceremony of the high level meeting held between Health Ministry and other Government institutions held in Hotel Jen.
Minister stated that Maldivians lead a sedentary lifestyle that paves way for many of the non-contagious diseases. She said that the rise of the reported numbers can only be lowered with the participation of NGO’s, businesses and institutions on a national level.
Minister Iruthisham noted that WHO statistic show that eight out of 10 Maldivians died due to non-contagious diseases.
She urged all to change their lifestyle habits and that such a change would cause a dip in the reported levels.
