The government has announced that they will be holding the biggest craft fair this year.
Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed reported that the fair will be held in seven sectors marked as business centers by the Government. The fair will be held in July. The seven business centers are Male’, Kulhudhuffushi, Fonadhu, Thinadhoo, Kudahuvadho, Naifaru and Addu City.
Minister Saeed said that finalists from the fairs scoring over 50 percent will be selected for the national crafts fair to be held in December. He also said that finalists scoring over 80 percent in the fairs will be awarded a national award.
Minister Saeed stated that in this fair participants can present items from IT sector and performing arts, in addition to normal crafts. As such, performing arts participants can present cultural items such as bodu beru, thaara and other such cultural activities.
