Bank of Maldives (BML) on Thursday announced plans to conduct sign language training for its staff, on the occasion of International Day of Persons With Disabilities.
According to the main bank of Maldives, the training will be conducted in collaboration with Maldives Deaf Association, an organisation that works to empower people with hearing impairment within the local community. The trainings aim to provide more inclusive and accessible services at BML for people living with disabilities.
BML noted that members of the association visited the main branch of the bank to observe daily operations and spend time with the staff.
The bank also donated MVR 30,000 to Maldives Deaf Association on the occasion, to be utilised for the organization’s activities.
Furthermore, BML donated additional motorized wheelchairs for people with mobility impairment across Maldives, bringing the total number of such donations by the bank to 125.
Notably, BML also donated educational tools to support 300 students studying in SEN classes in 10 schools across Maldives last January.
